The Unsent Project, which Rora Blue created in 2015, depicts the realities of those who have been abandoned, broken up with, or forgotten by those who matter the most to them.
The reality of those who have been hurt, abandoned, and forgotten by the people who matter the most to them is depicted in a project by THE UNSENT PROJECT through the existence of a text message exchange between two lovers who are no longer together but who are still keeping it to themselves.
THE UNSENT PROJECT was initiated by Rora Blue in 2015. Your first love, whether it was a romantic relationship or a friendship, remains in your heart forever and manifests itself in various ways for the rest of your life. However, there are occasions when it’s challenging to convey this sentiment to the person you want to share it with directly.
The UNSENT PROJECT, a collection of unsent texts that I had long since forgotten about, was something I suddenly discovered. They are some of the most significant pieces of information I’ve ever gotten, so I thought it would be great to gather them together in one place. I haven’t spoken to Kayla, my first love, in three years. In 2016, we dated for three months before breaking up and going our own ways. She was just sixteen, and I was nineteen at the time, so when it ended, none of us had any regrets or ill will toward the other. After that, I went on with my life and completely forgot about her; nevertheless, looking over these texts has been wonderful since they remind me of how wonderful we were together despite how brief our relationship was.
You can travel back in time by simply reading a few phrases at a time. If I could, I’d share the full exchange, but there are more than 150 emails here. Even though we both provided a lot of responses, most of the information was created in just two days, June 5th and 6th, 2016. If my memory is correct, it wasn’t until June 6th that we actually met in person, shared a kiss, and decided to hang out later that night while her parents weren’t around. But regardless of what transpires during your subsequent split. Your memories won’t vanish any time soon, whether it’s tomorrow or ten years from now.
The History Of The Unexpected Project
I’m going to send an unsent letter from my phone to one of my first loves through a text message once a month for the upcoming year. It will show up as a regular text message on her message feed. She won’t be able to stop it because it will be coming from me. I don’t want any of them answered because I want the audience to understand that when we miss our First Love, we can’t give each other clichés or even advice.
Some of these letters are meant to bridge the distance between us, but my main goal is to keep attempting to become closer. I still care about the folks who used to be close to me, despite the distance between us. There has never been a better time to be kind than right now. The words might heal something deep inside where hidden scars are present, even though they won’t make a mark on the screens of our phones.
You’ll be able to read the letters on the inside of each month’s box, which were never delivered person to person. Whatever lesson you choose to draw from this, keep the tale in mind. And consider your own narratives. Words are the only thing standing between the world and that tiny black box. Those words are fortunately accessible to us. Let’s not throw away this opportunity. There are times when starting something feels so difficult, but there is always tomorrow morning, lunchtime, or this afternoon. No longer must you allow mistakes, failures, regret from the past, or future dread to hold you back.
Unsent SMS messages: What are they?
We’ve all expressed our love to someone when we perhaps shouldn’t have. There was no way to take it back if it had been sent via text message or Facebook Messenger. Or perhaps you were texting a pal about your plans for the weekend, and they completely disregarded them and decided not to text you back. They continued living their lives after that without giving you a single thought. An unsent text message that. The next week, they won’t even say if they plan to hang out.
Some people wish to save every communication that has ever taken place with their loved ones, but they are never granted permission by them, either because the loved one no longer cares about them or because they don’t want to be reminded of their rejection. So that no one needs to recall being ghosted or rejected, they are moments’ words that are kept a secret. People can feel secure knowing they have documentation of what they’ve previously spoken to another person, thanks to THE UNSENT PROJECT. Unsent texts may provide greater privacy than simply deleting everything, yet it may not be as good as having access to your phone or text messages.
How It Began
I sat down to write a love letter one afternoon. A love letter to anybody or anything, but the boy I saw and how he made me feel served as my inspiration. When I visited his place later that evening, I told him how those lovely words made me feel. To be really honest with him, the most important thing is that I wasn’t afraid. This demonstrated to him that, despite the short duration of our relationship, I was incredibly inspired by him. Since then, each of my loves has cultivated something unique within me, so it is only fitting that, whether we are just friends or not, we share those tender moments when they depart.
You never know how things will turn out, so why not take every opportunity to let folks know how much you value their company? I keep all of my unsent texts to my first loves at this location as a creative outlet. These text messages should be delivered since when they are written, nothing but emotion is expressed. You are welcome to send them yourself or use these examples from THE UNSENT PROJECT as inspiration for new inventive ways to communicate your sentiments without fear. Everyone has experienced love, heartbreak, and frustration before, but there is always hope for the future.
Me and the Project: My Experience
I came across a creative writing assignment in the fall of 2011 where one was supposed to draught an unsent text message to a former flame. I was driven to think back on that experience and write a string of unsent texts to people who had made major contributions to my life, including family members, childhood pals, college classmates, and ex-lovers, in the days that followed. I found it to be rather therapeutic and cathartic. However, as it turns out, the outcome isn’t all that original; regardless of whether you’ve experienced it, it’s difficult to avoid relating to these messages. The Unsent Project, therefore, came into being.
What Was Remained
If we had remained friends after our breakup, I would have sent the unsent texts to them. The thoughts in THE UNSENT PROJECT range from humorous to serious, from a young wish to let them know what I’ve been doing and how much I miss them to more sour feelings about things they did or didn’t do for me. As I was writing these texts, it occurred to me that many of them could also be used as PSAs, guiding other young ladies in like circumstances to avoid blunders and heartache when interacting with their ex-boyfriends. Let me give you a few instances of what they could be since the options were limitless. When you don’t disclose your relationship on social media until you break up, most people don’t like it.
Nobody enjoys learning that someone they believed to be single is actually seeing someone else. Therefore, quit playing him for a fool by insisting you want a committed relationship when all you intend to do is keep him around as a fallback. He doesn’t need to see that picture of you and your sister at brunch, so you may remove him from your Instagram right now.
What Was Discovered
A friend of mine and I agreed to take part in an experiment that would eventually become THE UNSENT PROJECT. It was intended to inspire us to make art based on our common experiences and viewpoints. Additionally, when it came to statistics, we were interested in humanizing stories that are typically overlooked. The long-term objective is to publish a book that contains unsent text messages from other individuals.
If you can be honest about something so private, perhaps we can make other elements of life more transparent and open as well. You are encouraged to send you’re THE UNSENT PROJECT to email protected with your permission for publishing consideration.
Why Compose Letters for THE UNSENT PROJECT?
It’s fun to reflect on former relationships by writing THE UNSENT PROJECT to your first love; take advice from those experiences. You can think about what you might have done differently and identify any lessons you might have learnt as a result of the breakup of that relationship. Writing letters to your first love is a wonderful opportunity to look back on who you were at that point in your life.
We try to make sense of our lives by viewing it through the eyes of someone else. Consider reading more books or going back to the locations where significant moments in your relationship occurred when you are drafting an unsent letter to your first love. I advise trying something new, like skydiving or bungee jumping, to achieve closure. If that doesn’t sound attractive, producing something, like scrapbooking or jeweler making, could be a terrific alternative.
You’ll be able to reflect on the past as you create something lovely, giving each step additional significance. But more importantly, write deliberately. Write something down every day for 30 days, whether it’s one sentence or three pages long. Finally, once you’ve finished your creation, be sure to show it to your first love. Even though you didn’t grow up together, they should be able to witness how you changed through time. They will be able to move on and, possibly, receive some closure if they share it. Additionally, make an effort not to harbor any bitterness or animosity toward them for ending your relationship. Remember that sometimes we need to let go so that someone else can find us again, despite our best efforts to keep our hearts safe.
On TikTok, The Unsent Project gains popularity
My current favourite social media app is by far TikTok. You may upload 15-second videos with music with this app. Even though it looks straightforward, they have truly polished their branding and aesthetic with TikTok. One of the three featured Creators on TikTok was The Unsent Project. Also, it was the first time I had a famous person in a video! I made a series of unsent SMS messages that you could send through TikTok to first loves or crushes. It quickly became popular and received over 100K views in only one day.
It was interesting because a lot of these messages were inspired by a genuine crush of mine. So it made me feel like a million bucks to watch him accept them. Unfortunately, there is no way to safeguard yourself from creeps who might make your inbox look like notifications from Starbucks when people use their real names or usernames on social media platforms.
I fell in love for the first time at age thirteen. It was a covert romance with a girl who was two years my senior. Looking back, we both appeared to be more in love than we probably should have been for such a young couple. I’m an editor who resides on the West Coast. Imagine if we hadn’t been persuaded by others that everyone else was engaging in it as well.
